Ruth Flowers, a British grandmother living peacefully near Bristol, decides at the age of 80 to become a DJ after her grandson's birthday. A few months later, her alter ego Mamy Rock becomes a global sensation. For 6 years, Spoa® followed this extraordinary journey: from Parisian clubs to stages in Los Angeles, Tokyo, New York, Australia, China, and Singapore. Nearly 500 international performances, worldwide media coverage (The Guardian, Time, Wall Street Journal…), and an unexpected intergenerational cultural phenomenon.
SPOA® has produced and directed a 54-minute documentary feature film, conceived as a human narrative before being musical, an intimate immersion behind the scenes of a global phenomenon, a reflection on age, freedom, and reinvention. Hundreds of hours of archives, multi-country shootings, live capture, interviews, private moments. Direction, production, and narration carried by Spoa® Films. The film goes beyond the portrait: it becomes a cultural saga. Mamy Rock has become an unexpected pop icon. The film reveals: a heroine who breaks generational codes, a universal story of rebirth, storytelling that transcends ages and cultures. This project demonstrates SPOA®'s ability to build powerful, emotional, and exportable long-format narratives.
Next projects.
